What are your experiences of visiting the library – today, yesterday, yester-year? Do you remember visiting the old Canterbury Public Library building, on the corner of Hereford and Cambridge Terrace? What are your earliest memories of visiting a library?
For many people, visiting the library has been the beginning of a host of experiences, challenges, fun, friendships and discovery. What has the library meant to you over the years?

There are a few different ways you can share your experiences – both online and at your local library:

Share your experiences:

  • Visit our blog and share your experience or comment on other contributions.
  • Visit our flickr photostream. Tag and comment on our extensive collection of images – see if you recognise some of those faces, places and librarian smocks!
  • Share your collections. Have you got memorabilia (photos, cards, books, bookmarks, stamps etc) that you would like to share that could be part of a display in your local library? We’d love to hear from you. You can contact us at library150@ccc.govt.nz
  • Coming soon - the library Kete, an online space where library members can share memories, images, audio, video and documents relating to Christchurch and Canterbury, including the library of course!
